IPhone warranty question?

Howdy. I have Verizon and about a month ago my phone was stolen. Using the app "Find my iPhone" I was able to locate it at the house of a student I mentor. There was a minor crack in the screen prior to it bring stolen which became much larger after this young lady threw my phone in a snow bank and then left it there so her father wouldn't find it, I didn't really care about the screen because it was still functional. Unfortunately, my phone has been acting very strange ever since this incident and I think it sustained water damage from being tossed into a snow bank. Now to the question, since my phone was stole.n resulting in the aforementioned damages, will Verizon still charge me a ridiculous amount of money to obtain a new phone?
