interesting topics/events in american history to write a paper on?

I have to write a paper on any issue/war/event in american history from ANY time period. it's just so vague and broad that I'm struggling to think of anything. I'm a 16 year old high schooler who isn't American and I really dislike history. so please don't suggest something really intellectual, I want something that I'm not going to die from boredom researching
