no your tv is a 720p television meaning that is the highest resolution your tv can handle. your blueray player will only broadcast the movie in 720p

No it won't. The TVs resolution is what it is. Using a 1080PI blue ray unit will not increase the resolution on the tv in fact it MAY over load it and the tv won't be able to keep up with the blue ray. You'll end up with a stuttering screen or a jerky motion of the scenes instead of a smooth flow.
