how relevant is the theme of people moving around and setting up and moving

communities in judaism? I have a feeling that it has been this way in Judaism ever since the days of the bible and the diaspora is one example but is people moving around for what could be a variety of reasons a common theme.

I think one example could be my local Jewish community, not only was it set up but it attracts lots of students in part because I think that many other communities don't have the colleges that mine does meaning that they have to move around to get the opportunities and to have the facilities they need.
