How much would it cost to import a sports bike from the United States? ?

I heard somewhere the tax rate is alot lower if it is purchased brand new due to exemptions and the fact Australia produce no motorcycles? The bike I want is a 2011 Yamaha R1 which costs $10,000 in America but nearly $18,000 here!!! If anything it has to be a cheaper option????

Why is this MOTORCYCLE question in the cycling section - as in bicycles? Call UPS or Fed-Ex and find out. After freight charges & import taxes - your probably looking at NO great savings.

You would end up paying the same taxes when you import it into your country.

Good grief! That motorbike is made in Japan. The Japanese export it to the rest of the world.
