dvd drive detected as cd drive?

help please;
i have been using the dvd drive for 3 years and now sudden off this problem occures;
i am not able to read or write any data from dvd's, its detected as cd drive,, dc's asr working fine
what could the problem??
i formated my system and no solution found

Hi. You should visit this website for instructions on updating the firmware on your DVD drive. Pick your drive and it will tell you how and where to get the updates as well as how to install them.

If you don't see your particular drive in the list then pick one of the same brand and see the instructions on how to find the updates. Installation should be fairly universal.
