does vw make beatles any longer?

I was told the the volkswagen company no longer produces the mainstay of the company. The bug. It saddened me and I wanted to substantiate this rumor

Volkswagen no longer makes "classic" Beetles, which they stopped making in 2003 (a lot later than most people think). The "New Beetle" that you see a lot of today was put into production in 1998 and is still available today in both a hatchback and convertible.
