does blue ray and too much hd take away the grain and make old movies fake and

cheesy? especially old movies and tv shows. you can see the plastic sets, sometimes makeup errors, effects looks cheesy ect. or do you like seeing everyhting anyway.

Like the texture of the wardrobe and outfits is pleasing also. and facial expressions or a dark room is well lit .

I'm watching aliens right now on hbo tv. not sure if its hd dvd or blue ray.
