Can I use an AT&T IPhone 4 sim card in a Verizon IPhone 4s?

I would like to surprise my boyfriend with an IPhone 4s this Christmas. He has an IPhone 4 with AT&T (the screen cracked in an accident) and he is unable to upgrade until late next year.

If I have access to getting an IPhone 4S through Verizon (through my own upgrade credit), is it possible to take the micro sim card out of his phone and activate his number on the phone I received through Verizon?

I've noticed Verizon doesn't force you to activate devices they've sent you for an upgrade. Thanks!

No, Only Verizon 4g phones use SIM cards. Although there 4g network is GSM based (LTE) it's on different frequencies and still not compatible with AT&T stuff.
