blackwater in my fish tank?

I recently set up a paludariam (a aquatic/ terrestrial) aquarium, Its cycled and ready for fish (I used an old filter from my other tank) the water in the tank has turned black and I'd like too see my fish so at the moment I can't have any I used great stuff foam and black waterproof silicone, I kinda rushed the silicone so it might not have cured and I have peat and wood chips in there so I wonder if that caused it, any ways I would like to know what caused this and if my fish could be harmed also if there is any way to make the water lighter please share. (note: I just finished cycling I really don't want to get rid of my water unless the silicone made it deadly)
