I need a program to rip movies.

I'm using Linux Mint (basically Ubuntu), and want to rip both DVD's and VCD's.

Must also be free.

Thanks.
Thanks! I'll give them a try.

Pardon my ignorance, but what is a dual layer disc?

Take a look at K9Copy or DVD::Rip

LUg.

Dvd::Rip is a very powerful program. It can rip DVDs and convert to them to a variety of video formats.

DVD95 can take a dual layer disc and compress it to a single layer .iso

Those are what I use.

Also, make sure that you have the libdvdcss2 plugin installed. I think Mint has it installed by default, but just in case it doesn't, follow the directions here:
