My 2011 Malibu was rear ended by a 1994 Cadillac Eldorado at about 25-30 MPH, the trunk is smashed shut, bumper completly flattened, license plate holder shattered and the plate is bent and scratched. The hit was so hard it busted a bottle of Dawn in the trunk. Underneath everything looks fine, unibody seems strong, no exhaust or gas tank issues.

So basically can just the trunk lid and bumper and assorted parts be pulled and replaced or could there be other damage I can't see. I'm taking to a reputable shop per my insurance but just want to know.

By the way the car is driveable and the rear lights do work, though coming out of the sockets.

If you're taking it to a good shop why wouldn't you just ask them? You're asking people on here who haven't seen the car. Furthermore it if it needs one the shop will do it and the insurance will pay for it.

But to answer the question chances are it won't need one.

It may be okay or it may not. That's for the body shop to find out. No one on YA can answer this question with any validity..
