Hi, I am doing work on my 2000 vw jetta trying to customize it and remove some of the stock interior parts. In the trunk of the car I removed all of the "panels" to allow myself to work on the wiring with the "automatic" light that turns off and on when the trunk opens and closes. I decided to install some blue led lights I purchased off ebay so that it would look better and more custom. I set the lights up and was SURE not to touch any other wires if I didn't need to. I connected it and everything about the lights look great except I am having issues with the trunk opening and closing. When the trunk lid is open and I click the button that opens the lid, everything with the latches move perfect and in a working order. The issue is when I close the trunk. When it is closed, there is no latch clicking to open the trunk up. Why is this issue happening and how can I fix this.

** I can not go to a dealership for help so this has to be a doable job **

Thanks for everyone who helps me with this issue.
