i record on pro tools 8 le. mbox 2. sure mic. ksm27. i know i cant learn everything online or in one day but are there any suggestions besides a small soundproof room in order to make the vocals sound more good/professional? I hear EQ works well. Any other plug in suggestions?

when i go to listen to music i can hear all the background instruments but the actual vocals and lyrics of the song don't come through anything past a quit mumble
I only have 2 speakers for my computer (one on each side of the monitor) but the sound will still play if i have the sound set to 5.1 speakers. The question is why are the vocals lower when it is set to 5.1 and higher when it is set to stereo?
