Should I be skeptical about buying a 2001 Honda Civic with a rebuilt engine?

The car I'm interested in is a 2001 Honda Civic Ex with 70k miles on a rebuilt engine (new clutch too). It is in great condition body-wise, no accidents, and the seller says he put in new brakes, and sparkplugs 15k miles ago. This was the seller's daughters car and its up for a really reasonable price. So...A question that came to mind is, why would a 2001 Honda need a rebuilt engine?

I don't see any reason why not to trust a rebuilt engine, or a new clutch.
The only reason why some one would rebuild the engine on a Honda is that the car was beat on severely ,or some one did not take care of the car the way you should.
Not changing the oil ETC on the car. ( no preventive maintenance )
For piece of mind have the car checked out by your mechanic before buying the car.

"Why" is not that important as much as "who rebuilt it" If the fell did it himself, check his credentials. If Honda did , he should have a reciept and it should be good.
