Verizon Texting Privacy???

So, I did my research and looked around and found that every time I asked, I always go the same answer... "No, no one can read your texts because it's an invasion of privacy." or something like that.

Well, I had a discussion with my mother today, and SHE says that her and my father can read every single text i've sent and received, because they go online and have some type of parental control set up so they can read it because I'm under 18. Including pictures and videos sent and received. So basically, I think I am screwed. Hah.

So wondering, is she just lying to me to trick me into not saying or sending things that she would not approve of? or is she telling the truth??

Please let me know if you know! Especially if you work for Verizon and have some type of experience with it!
