To speculate, will the price of Litecoin go up in the years to come?

So I pretty much just found out about litecoin and my understanding of it it is that it is better to for gpu mining comparitively to Bitcoin. So my question is will litecoin really last and will it turn into something like bitcoin wherein gpu mining has become a thing of the past and FPGA and ASIC mining are where it really happens.
Also why is litecoin better for gpu mining?
