I saw it in the 4th grade (1982-83), it was on reel-to-reel, a color film about a group of scientists who somehow transport a creature to the lab for studying. The creature looked like some kind of advanced simian or neanderthal (hairy, but not tall), which was not violent, but they did not seem to treat it very nicely. At the end, one of the female scientists felt compassion for it, and while they tried to transport it back (or zap it out of existence?) she jumped onto the platform and was zapped with the creature. They both disappeared and i think that was the end of the film...
