How come people continue to take Rev wright's words out of context without seeing the whole video of his serm.

Why? People just take the 5 second sound bytes and bits and pieces of the video and automatically assume that context. He talks about indians, japanese, africans, women, etc. He even talks about woman(WHITE and BLACK). Why are they calling him racist? He is talking about the government. He never says anything racially against white males. He is talking about the government. And I agree with obama's speech but I think he should have forced everyone to watch the entire clip. And if you think I'm trying to twist this in obama's favor or anything, yo ucan watch the video yourselves at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RvMbeVQj6Lw&feature=related

Yeah he talks about the government of "The United States of White America" and the "US of KKK," Then says "G-D America." How on earth could you POSSIBLY take that out of context!?And even *if* Rev. Wright's words are not enough, see Obama's church's own website, where they proudly proclaim that they commit to the "Black Value System" which ONLY supports the black community.

It is pretty hard to imagine those vile hate filled bigoted words being something said in isolation. It is OBVIOUSLY said all the time.

well George, it's like this:smart people don't have to hear a whole sermon.just a little bit of the sermon, shows where his heart is.and trust me, it aint filled with love either.infact, he's probably more racist than a new born baby KKK with a box of white crayons.

Because Wright said many things in many different sermons. I don't have the time to sit through all 5,000 hours of his sermons to pick out the 4900 hours that are anti-American and racist. A random sampling is sufficient.

I did hear the whole thing, and it was even worse "in context".

let's face it, bigots are looking for a reason, any reason, to not vote for a black man as president. really now. if not him who? it's obvious white people would prefer someone who doesn't embrace his/her African roots. they would prefer a black man who sells outs to white America!!!!! what a freak in joke.

I have heard the sermon. I voted for Obama. I also think Rev. Wright is a religious lunatic on par with Pat Robertson and the late Fat Jerry Falwell.

Wright is a racist, so stop sugar coating it.

Boy, I bet Obama is glad you're not on his campaign staff. LOL. Why not stir up the bees a bit more? You're about as naive as Obama is.

Check out yesterday's "Candorville" comic strip for an idea...

Because most of the people you are running into here are Neo-con pinheads who only know how to regurgitate talking points and do not know how to have a intelligent conversation. You have four versions they offer 1. he is a racist2. he is a terrorist3. he is a socialist 4. he is a racist, socialist, terrorist remember these people follow a guy who has to catapult the propaganda, has not spent much time on Bin laden, and also believe McCain is not conservative enough

I actually have taken the time to watch more of his sermons and I still think he is blatantly racist! He is also just very negative and hateful and nothing good can come from anyone who so closely associates themselves with that kind of negativity.

any context that those words are screamed out is not worth our time there aren't any theological justifications for that bigotry

finally someone sees my point of view. I've been preaching this for 2 weeks already. if clark t. devlin had just a smidgen of a brain, he would have more than a measly 7% best answers out of 700 something. that's one best answer out of every 100. you go smartie. impress me some more.

Frankly I am tired of hearing people like you ask this question. Wake up! Saying "God D... America" is impossible to take out of context! It is a complete statement in itself and I personally don't need to listen to another word from anyone who says it. He also asked God to "Da.. America". Can't take that out of context either. Make excuses if you want, it only makes you look silly and naive.

There is nothing that man could say to make the snippits alright, unless he was to buckle up laughing making a joke......I don't care how many minutes it is you can't say those things.......well that's the thing here right, what is really going on is I can't say those things but you can?

Ideological predisposition, campaign bias, and good old bad faith. The polls suggest most people who were susceptible of voting for him in the first place have been more open-minded. As to the others, sometimes reasoning can achieve nothing. I go back to Max Planck (father of quantum physics): "A new ... truth does not triumph by convincing its opponents and making them see the light, but rather because its opponents eventually die, and a new generation grows up that is familiar with it."Notice how readily they turn Wright into an antiwhite bigot, which is so blatantly unjustified it is shameful we are even discussing it. They are basically conflating the issues... just an opportunity for them to voice their own racial insecurities I guess, because except for the "the Gov doesn't like black people" narrative, he said nothing racist. (Noone is calling Kanye West a bigot for saying "Bush doesn't care about black people," by the way!).
