DSi Roms not working?

My daughter has an R4i card with version 1.32 software uploaded. I haven't uploaded any new games for a while but when I've tried recently very few seem to work.

I either get an errcode 4 or the screen simply goes blank.

I've read about patches, is this needed? or is there another solution?

It's hard to find DSi roms these days that actually work. Patching isn't completely necessary, as most roms have a "patched" version on the interned already. The way I look for roms is to just Google the name of the game; if I download a bad version, re-Google it and throw in "patched." This usually fixes the problem. Hope it helps!
