How can I encode an avi file on mac with no divx watermark?

I need to be able to import frames from the .avi file in Photoshop CS5. Currently Photoshop can open files I can create but they all have the divx watermark in the corner from the time of avi encoding. It is a registered divx codec so I would not know why the watermark is still there. If it helps also what im encoding from is .flv or .mp4 .
Im on a Mac. I saw the info on the website but thats info for windows OS
