While we can't accuse New York Yankees general manager Brian Cashman of lacking imagination or creativity when tweaking his roster this offseason, we can confirm the team lacks creativity when it comes to motivating that roster.
You know that*motivational quote we learned of on Thursday? The one that's prominently displayed in the clubhouse at the team's spring training facility in Tampa. It's not an original. In fact, it was written almost verbatim from a motivational sign that's posted at just*about every CrossFit location known to man.

Now here's a side-by-side shot for comparison's sake.*

The CrossFit sign reads:
Motivated People Only
By entering here, you agree to give 100% of what you have. There are no excuses or second chances. Everyday, every moment is an opportunity to excel, to be more, to achieve your best. Do not squander your time by going through the motions. Train hard and get results. At the end of the day, look in the mirror and ask yourself if you gave your all. If you don’t have that level of commitment, don’t waste your time or ours.
We're sure Russell Wilson would be of the opinion that borrowing from*CrossFit isn't a big deal at all. In fact, the Seattle Seahawks star quarterback dug even deeper than that recently, using an Internet search to find the right words to describe his girlfriend, Ciara.
Hey, we all need a help expressing ourselves sometimes, right? *While the words may not be their own, what's written translates the message both Wilson and the Yankees wanted to get across.*Although it's also worth noting that the Yankees went about omitting three notable words from the CrossFit original.*
On the CrossFit sign, it reads:*There are no excuses or second chances.*
On the Yankees sign, it reads:*There are no excuses*or second chances.*
Because in Yankeeland, there are second chances. Just ask Alex Rodriguez.*

This is a strange story, no doubt about that. But that's par for the course during the first week of spring training. It's just interesting that the Yankees felt compelled to borrow that message, and that they were clearly mindful of the words they left out.*
