I guess it depends on what he plans to use the car for. I really don't see a problem if its his first car and he just needs something to get around (its not like he needs to drive it across the country). However, I seriously doubt a '94 Lexus with over 300k on the clock is worth $3,800, so find out what the KBB value is of the car before considering it. Also have a mechanic look at it to see if it will need any major repair.
