Classical music is no different to mainstream, in that some bright young things are lauded by virtue of looks/personality rather than talent.
Who do you think is 'something special' and conversely is there anyone you feel to be undeserving? Either now or in the past.
I ask this as I've just bought Vilde Frang's first cd ( Prokofiev and Sibelius violin concertos ) and I was impressed. Normally I avoid all such releases, but I'm glad I didn't this time.
