Why does my Blackberry Storm battery keep dying at the hospital?

I work in the lab and even a totally full battery dies within a couple of hours.
I tried turning the connections off, as someone told me that my phone will constantly search for one when in a difficult spot, but that didnt work, it still drained within a couple of hours. I can usually get a couple of days of stand-by, so the battery IS good. Incidentally, I do have a network here, although not a strong one, there are like 2 bars.

most likely there are too many programs running in the background. when your done with a app hit menu then exit or shutdown close etc dont just jump to another..
