Who wrote the poem which had a line similar to "seven white jaguars beneath...

...the *something* tree"? There is a quote I heard the other day in which the poet was answering a question about his poem (he replied to the question, what do the jaguars mean" to which he replied something to the effect of "only God knows that")... the line in the poem went something like:

...seven white jaguars beneath the *something* tree...

Does anyone know this poem, or the author??? It's driving me crazy! I really want to know.
