Where Did Earth Get It's Name?

No. It's the only planet in our solar system not named for a Greek or Roman God. It derives from Middle High German, "Erda",in which the Saxons changed the "d" sound to a "th" sound.

Nope.

It comes from the Old English name for dry land: eorþe

The fourth letter in that word is called thorn. It makes a th sound. When the thorn was not used as much, people started using the letter y in its place. That's why you have "ye olde". It really was "þe" and pronounce much like "the". But most people don't care about this detail, but if you're trying to figure out how eorþe could possibly become earth, if you substitute th for the thorne, you will get eorthe.

See my source.
