Whats a better buy a citroen c3 or golf mk4?

my better half and i are buying a second hand car, we have it down to two very similar cars, Citroën C3 1.4i SX and VW Golf 1.4L mk4.

Thing is they are very similar, both 2002, 12 month MOT, both between 80-90,000 miles, very similar price, and according to the spiel, they both have similiar electrics, windows, central locks, etc etc... oh, and theyre bother silver.

I like the golf, while wor lass likes the C3....
any opinions on build quality and reliability etc? anything that will help us make the decision.

vw they hold there money and they dont break down as much as the c3 woud

Buy the Golf. The Citroen C3 is a seriously awful car and it will break down all the time.

We've never had either, but my hubby has the C4, it's nearly 5 years old and he's never had any trouble with it. .....but you can't go wrong with VW - personally i'd go for the VW, only because i have heard they are more reliable and i'm sure i read somewhere that they hold their value better, although that might only be for newer cars??
