New Testament only please. And the question is also about prophecy in general. If prophecy is "dead" than the Fatima prophecies wouldn't exist so no, prophecy must still be going on.
 
That true prophecy has long since ceased. Anything else is soothsaying which is of the devil and so is prohibited.

Note "sorcerers" below:

Rev 21:8 But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.
 
Hmmm...well, the OT was written when lots of pagan religions were practicing those kinds of things, but the NT was written later and was more Roman influenced. Some scholars believe the NT was influenced by Plato and Stoicism, but it all boils down to what was popular at the time each book was written.
