What are the tobacco regulations for KLM airlines?

I will be flying from the US to the UK via KLM airlines. I will be visiting England and I've heard that cigarettes there run about $12 dollars a pack (outrageous if you ask me), so I was wondering if I would be allowed to bring a carton of cigarettes to avoid the tobacco expenses overseas. If anyone has any experience with this airline or anything of the sort any help would be greatly appreciated. :)

Thank you!

Note that you can't usually smoke anywhere in a public building in the UK, you have to do it in the street.
