The mother is no longer feeding the puppies. They are eating hard puppy food & drinking water. The owner would like us to take the puppy soon. The puppy will be the only pet in the house. Will this be alright? Thanks

A qualified breeder knows that a puppy should not leave the mother until 8 weeks. If the breeder wants you to take the puppy before that you might want to find your dog somewhere else. You might not be getting the best dog.

Also, make sure that the parents of the dog do not have degenerative myelopathy - have her show you proof of the dna test. If she does not know what you are talking about do not purchase this dog. Degenerative myelopathy is a condition in german shepherds and other breeds that causes them polio like symptoms as they age.

no it is illegal to sell a dog under 8 weeks of age. the puppy still has to have milk. which that could be bought at pet stores. you can start SLOWLY introducing hard puppy food. you are gonna have an amazing dog so make sure you feed the pup a food which has a REAL MEAT SOURCE! (stay away from iams, pedigree, kibbles and bits, dads, any purina product, science diet, anything from a supermarket...foods to go for royal canin, verus, natural balance.) also make sure after he or she turns a year old start giving him or her some hip and joint stuff about once a day or so to prevent any hip issues since they are known for getting hip issues.
