I am reading the Tsubasa Chronicles manga on this site http://www.onemanga.com/ but I just got confused at something and I was wondering if it was a translation issue or if I'm just reading it wrong.

Syaoran says "we were childhood friends together" to Sakura
and in the next page: http://media.onemanga.com/mangas/00000018/00000013/11.jpg
Sakura says "so we had not met before" and Syaoran answers "yes".
What the hell? He just told her they were childhood friends and the next page she is saying they have never met before and he confirms it? I know they were indeed childhood friends and that Sakura lost her memories, I just wanna know if Syaoran is telling her that they were friends or not, it's not as though telling her that will bring back the lost memories of him anyway.
Can anyone explain this to me? And tell me whether this is an error of translation or I'm just reading it wrong?
