He conned his way into the military because he had bad hearing. It is not Wind Talkers!. It's a black and white and he was killed in action but not before distinguishing him self. In the movie the implied he died because of his hearing problem. It could have been made anywhere between the 50's to late 60's. It may have even been a for TV movie. For some reason I remember the name Roger.
