I am planning a road trip from Los Angeles,CA to Crater Lake in Oregon. We will travel north on the 395 and the south on the 1/101. I was wondering if anyone has traveled on these roads and knows of any interesting destinations to stop and see. I know there are several places to stop at, and some are more of a tourist trap than a really cool spot. I have read lots of websites about where to visit, but I am looking for real life experiences. I know there are a ton of places to visit, and I have a few destinations in mind already (Bodie, Convict Lake, Redwoods, etc). We like both physical features and cultural features, and would like a good balance of both.
