1) Do viruses frequently come with the downloads (are most downloads safe?)?
2) Does it slow down your computer?

Anything else I should know? Do you like it/recommend it?

Use utorrent,
1). No hardly ever, its safer than limewire and such and than downloading from random sites, unless your downloading software as some keygens come with virus's, Just scan everything you download and youll be fine
2). slow down pc? no, slow down internet ? yes, if your downloading using bittorrent, it will slow down your internet connection depending on your download speed, and some programs like bittorrent and azuires can slow down your pc as they're java programmed, i suggest utorrent as its programmed in C+ so its lightweight and doesnt slow down system preformance at all really.

Umm my opion i wont state as it's illegal :p but yeah if you use it well it can be your best friend, i also suggest using www.thepiratebay.org for torrents as you can check comments on torrents to know if they're bad or have virus's and such and download a program called peer guardian as it blocks known p2p companys ip's so your safer downloading, and have a much less chance at getting caught :p and Good luck!

1) Check the comments on the web page before you click to download it. There are usually whistle-blowers on infected files. I've found that most files are safe.

2) It eats a lot of bandwidth, but I've never had it impact my processors too much.

well, if you look at the list of files and there isn't anything suspicious looking, then it probably isn't a virus.

And it does slow down your Internet connection, but probably not your computer.

I personally don't use BitTorrent or uTorrent either however i used Flashget. it is a download manager not only capable of being a download manager per se but as well as a torrent downloader.

Let's see...

1) BEFORE you download any torrent, Bitcomet for example tells you the files that come within this torrent. Therefore you can check if that is a fake download.

2) Viruses slow down your computer, crash it, block access to many optiones, rename files, delete files, etc.

I suggest you to use Bitcomet and a good antivirus, like NOD32.

See ya..
