the new phone has a $0-199 down payment and finance the rest for 2 years (contract)
if your current phone is only a year into the old contract there is a "transition" fee.
if its almost at the end of the old 2 year contract there is no early termination, oops, transition fee.
if i want to keep my smartphone and not purchase a new one, i cannot go into the new plan that offers 500 mb of data for free without a contract. i have to stay with my old 200 mb at $10 a month.
