A severe storm caused widespread chaos along the Taquari River in Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, on Thursday, May 2, including a bridge collapse and the uprooting of trees.The conditions came amidst an extreme alert that was in place for the region since Monday.Footage filmed by Jossie B Jorge on Thursday afternoon shows a bridge collapsed over the river, toppled trees, and people trying to rescue their ATVs from the mud.On Wednesday evening, Governor Eduardo Leite declared a “state of calamity” due to the flooding, which by Thursday had left at least 13 people dead and more than 9,000 homeless, according to the local government.
