The St. Louis Rams might have played their final game at the Edward Jones Dome on Thursday night, but the city is doing its best to keep the team around.
On Friday it passed a funding package for $150 million, with more NFL assistance, that could make it tough for the league to allow Rams owner Stan Kroenke to move the team to Los Angeles with such an attractive offer on the table in the city in which the team currently resides.

The problem? Kroenke hasn't shown much willingness to stay, at least not publicly. So the efforts of the city and of St. Louis stadium task force chairmen David Peacock and Robert Blitz have been difficult, and the aldermen who approved the bill did so with some reservations — by a 17-10 vote.
And with one classic quote.
"We're like at the strip club ... and the stripper is throwing the money back at us," Alderman Sharon Tyus said.
Naturally, Alderman Tyus was one of the 10 no votes.
Now the ball is in the NFL's court, with a pivotal Jan. 12-13 owners meeting in Houston that'll decide the fate of St. Louis and other cities as it relates to the league's Los Angeles interests. We might find out then whether the lapdance gets finished or not, so to speak.
If so, we request "Pour Some Sugar On Me" from the deejay.
