I have to write a paper that discusses how the shareholder structure in the US works and then how this relates to maximization of shareholder value. My teacher is looking specifically for us to target how in most companies the majority of shareholders do not have rights because their ownership is tied up in other ways. He then wants us to relay this into corporate governance, agency theory, etc. I'm a little lost and need to find sources that explain this more in depth.
