We may have some idea where Tim Tebow will land in MLB. (AP) Though we wouldn’t necessarily say the Tim Tebow rumor mill is heating up, it’s at least active. In fact, according*to ESPN’s Pedro Gomez, two MLB teams have reportedly separated themselves from the pack in terms of interest in the former college football standout.
Those teams are…

We knew a team or teams would step to the forefront eventually. Especially after Tebow showed an inkling of potential in his showcase this week. Of course, his long batting practice home run was the highlight of the afternoon. He also reportedly did enough otherwise to not completely discourage the 28 teams that scouted him, and in the case of Atlanta and Colorado he may have genuinely impressed them.

It’s hard to say what this means or where the interest will lead. The Braves and Rockies are two franchises out of contention this season, but both are hopeful for quick turnarounds thanks to improving minor league systems.*Both could also use some buzz to rekindle interest, especially with the Braves headed to a new ballpark next season.
No, Tebow wouldn’t be playing at SunTrust Park, but he could still be a promotional asset given his history in the southeast playing for the Florida Gators.
As for Colorado, you can already hear the “been there, done that” cries after Tebow quickly fizzled out as the Denver Broncos starting quarterback. At the time, there were people in Denver saying that Todd Helton was the best quarterback in town, and we’re not entirely sure they were joking. Regardless, it’s safe to assume Denver has had its fill of Tebow, especially knowing his baseball dream is an even longer shot to develop than his football career.
It’s not believed that Tebow is close to making any kind of decision, so fans of these teams shouldn’t overreact just yet. This process may even play out in the offseason, giving other teams plenty of time to reconsider. Rest assured though, Tim Tebow will be playing baseball somewhere and is never going to go away. Ever.
