PSP PrOBLEMS!!!?

ok, I have version 1.5 and I tried to upgrade to version 4.5 and I did it step by step exactly. This is what came up.
"The system configuration of this PSP system does not appear to be correct. The update cannot be completed."

what do I do? I bought it used could that be a problem?

if u need 2 upgrade to 4.5 just go to the settings option in ur psp and click on network update and connect to the internet
