Please Help....How do i unlock a southern link i580 Motorola cell phone?

I have a i580 motorola phone from southern link, i found out that you can unlock it to use it with a different carrier(a really nice guy name mobile m*** told me that), but i don't know how to go about actually unlocking it...any help would be greatly appreciated..i live in pensacola, fl if there is somewhere that i could take it close to here.....thank you & god bless
