on the show Stargate Sg-1 they travel through a wormhole can that really happen?

wormholes could theoretically exist however they would be impossible to travel through due to the enormous gravitational fluctuations inside, you would be ripped apart atom-by-atom

No.

There are three big reasons: first wormholes have never been found; two there is no way to control them even if they were real; and, three, even if we could control them, the energy required to rip space apart (which is what wormholes do) is beyond our technology today, tomorrow, and the far far future.

Stargate, Star Wars, Star Trek, and all of these are sci-fi, with very little sci and a whole lot of fi. I prefer shows like the Eleventh Hour, which is also sci-fi, but with a whole lot of sci and very little fi.
