The Canucks won their sixth in a row by doubling up the Calgary Flames 4-2, all while being outshot 46-13. Granlund added an assist for a three-point night after going the last six games without a point. Ryan Miller made 44 saves in the win.
No. 2 Stars: Nathan MacKinnon, Colorado Avalanche / Ondrej Kase, Anaheim Ducks
MacKinnon grabbed the extra point for the Avs with a power play tally with 17 seconds left in overtime in a 2-1 win over the New York Islanders. He also assisted on Colorado’s opening goal from Gabriel Landeskog to help the team to its first win at home since Nov. 14.

The other overtime hero Friday night, Kase took advantage of Mike Smith’s hesitation to stuff home the winner to beat the Arizona Coyotes 3-2.

No. 3 Star: Scott Darling, Chicago Blackhawks
Jonathan Toews and Artemi Panarin provided the goals that was just enough for the Blackhawks to edge the Carolina Hurricanes 2-1. Panarin snapped a six-game goal with his 16th of the year while Darling stopped a season-high 39 of the 40 shots he faced. Darling’s now helped Chicago to wins in six of his last eight starts.

Honorable Mention: Four goals – three on the power play and one shorthanded – in a span of 5:49 in the first period powered the Toronto Maple Leafs by the New Jersey Devils 4-2. Auston Matthews netted his 21st to extend his point streak to eight games.

Prior to the game, the Devils honoed former owner John McMullen by making him the first person inducted into their Ring of Honor.

Jonathan Marchessault’s 12th of the season broke a 1-1 tie midway through the third period and helped give the Florida Panthers a 2-1 win over the Nashville Predators. On the night they honored him for reaching second all-time in points, Jaromir Jagr assisted on the game-winning goal. He now has 1,137 helpers for his career … Before the game, the Panthers honored the victims of Friday’s shooting at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood airport … Ticket sales rep Bobby Segin filled in as the Panthers’ emergency backup after Roberto Luongo was injured during warmups.
Did You Know? “[Connor] Brown is the first Maple Leafs rookie to score short-handed since Christian Hanson in April 2010.” (AP)
Dishonorable Mention: Cory Schneider lasted 4:40, allowing four goals on five shots, including one to forget shorthanded against Connor Brown … Nashville has dropped five of their last seven games … Aside from Luongo, the Panthers also lost Nick Bjugstad to a lower-body injury in the first period … A lower-body injury ended Devils captain Andy Greene’s ironman streak at 350 games.
