My iPad apps won't download.?

I've tried everything I know. I rebooted my iPad, I've reset it, I've downloaded a free app to try and jump-start it, and I can't seem to do it. Every time I tap the icon, it shows the "Waiting..." thing, then it goes back to the name and says "*enter name here* cannot be downloaded at this time." I'm on my grandmother's Wi-Fi, and I know everything is good on there. I don't understand what's going on.

Has anyone else ever come across a situation like this, or is my iPad just on the fritz? Mind you, it is the first generation iPad, so I'm not sure if it's just a technical error with the first one or what's going on. Can someone help me on the situation? Thank you.

You may have run out of space on the hard-drive for your Iphone. Check your available storage space by looking around in the settings.
