movie about teenagers, probably set in early 90's?

when i was younger, maybe around 1997, there was this movie on TV about two teenagers who fall in love and run away.
the opening scene shows teens diving into a lake from really high rocks.
later, the girl almost gets raped by a truck driver who agrees to drive her and her boyfriend around, but her boyfriend saves her.
if you know the name of this movie, please help!!!!!
