Mississippi State is trying to rally the ghosts of the 2000 Independence Bowl by any means necessary.

The university painted the hashtag #SNOWBOWL12 in the north end zone Tuesday and the team plans to wear special all-white uniforms for the game.

The 2000 Independence Bowl was referred to as the "Snow Bowl" because of the driving snow that created a memorable scene on the field. Mississippi State rallied to win the game 43-41 in overtime.

That was the first time the two teams had met since 1937 and the last time since.

Mississippi State and Texas A&M are coming off two very different weekends. The Aggies drilled Auburn 63-21 while the Bulldogs struggled to a 38-7 loss to Alabama. The two teams have three league wins apiece — tied with LSU — but A&M has played one more league game and has two losses compared with one for the Bulldogs.

It will be interesting to see what other stops Mississippi State pulls out to make this game like 2000. Unfortunately, there's no snow in the forecast.
