On the field, Los Angeles Angels superstar Mike Trout is all about business. As he recently noted, he's more comfortable leaving the bat-flipping and crazy celebrations to his peers.
On the field though, it's a different story. He's definitely a fun-loving guy with a wide range of interests. He's not above participating in a little prank either, especially at the expense of a teammate. And that's exactly what we have here, a good old-fashioned prank on Angels opening day starter Garrett Richards.

According to MLB.com, Trout was approached by the creators of Prank Academy on YouTube and asked to pick a teammate he thought might make a good target. He chose Richards, his longtime friend and occasional roommate, because "He believes everything."
Indeed, that sounds like a prime prank target, and Richards proved to be just that.
Trout also enlisted the help of teammates Jered Weaver, Kole Calhoun and C.J. Cron. Together, they accompanied Richards to Sapporo, a Japanese restaurant in Scottsdale. Once there, the trap was set. Richards was led to believe that a young woman was preparing to break up with her boyfriend. A short time later, her boyfriend happens by the table seeking the Angels players help to propose.*
An extreme amount of awkwardness follows. More importantly, there's just as much hilarity as Richards goes along for the ride.*
Credit where it's due too. This prank was well executed. Most of these April Fools' type pranks feel watered down. Especially when they were clearly filmed days, even weeks in advance. It's just not that cool when you prank someone on March 24, for example, but this worked and it was definitely fun.*

Poor Garrett Richards though. The next time the guys ask him to hang out, he''ll flash back to this moment and perhaps break into a cold sweat.*
