The Philadelphia Eagles are trying to figure out a way to stop the bleeding. They tried firing their defensive coordinator. That didn’t work. Now they are cutting one of their biggest names on defense: Jason Babin.
Last season, Babin had a career-high 18 sacks. So far this season, the 32-year-old has 5.5 sacks. However, the Eagles obviously want to go in a different direction.
“By releasing him today, this gives us an opportunity to give more playing time to some of the younger guys in the defensive line rotation,” explained head coach Andy Reid.
After hearing the news, Babin was confident that he’d land on his feet.
“I like to win, I like to compete and I like to sack the quarterback,” said Babin. “I imagine there’s a team out there looking for that.”
