Itunes - when I try converting my songs to AAC from MPEG format it's not making...

...the size smaller. . .? usually when I convert a lot of songs the AAC format makes the MB of the songs smaller witht the exception of a few and Now none of them are getting smaller they're all getting much bigger MB size

What can I do to change this?
